WRN?

I was casting on my sock...cast on 56 stitches, join being careful not to twist (sound familiar).  So I am ready to get started, right? *Wrn to make 1---huh?  I flip the page to check for abbreviations/stitch definitions,  none to be found.  This happened to be during my lunch hour today and I was with a fellow knitter....do you know what a wrn is, I inquired? She had never heard of this stitch either.  Very odd.  I checked KnitSpeak when I got home,  wrn stands for wool round needle, this is the British version of a YO.  Mystery solved....I can now commence with my cuff.  Happy Knitting Everyone!

Cast off

Slr_0369rI hit a bit of a milestone yesterday morning.  Lady Eleanor is cast off.  I will be weaving in the ends this week and the fringe will be added after blocking.  The color is a little off in the picture but you get the idea.

I've been itching to cast on some socks and I think I'll start on these.Slr_0371r

A Packer Pachyderm

Slr_0306rThis was my surprise FO for my Silly Swap Pal who just so happens to be a fellow Green Bay Packer Fan.  Isn't he adorable? I think she looks pretty amused.

Signed, sealed, delivered

Slr_0309rI finished these up last month and hadn't remembered to take a FO picture.  These are the Snicket Socks knit in Lorna's Laces Shepard Sock Jeans colorway.  Here are the Silly Sock Swap Socks just before they went into the box with all the other goodies to be mailed for the big reveal.   I included a surprise knitted item that I will show y' all next week after the recipient has opened it.

In other knitting I am on the home stretch on Lady Eleanor, but it doesn't look much different than before--just longer.

Impromtu Knitting

Img_4004rA cup of coffee,  a sock, and some lovely conversation.  I finally plowed though the second short row heel on my Silly Sock Swap Sock and am making great progress toward finishing them up.

On the way I pulled over to snap this beautiful mountain morning.Img_4001r

Saturday Fun

Img_3842I had the good fortune this weekend to go back East and hang out with the Img_3844r_3gals. Today Crystal, this little guy, Julie and I headed up  to The Fiber Studio,  took a bit of a detour to Apple Tree Fabrics, then on to The Elegant Ewe.  We found the best stash of Noro Sock yarn, some Habu stainless steel and wool yarn, and I also picked up some Lorna's laces.  Before heading back to MA we had a lovely lunch at The Common ManImg_3848 Img_3862 .

Despite the snow this evening we met up with some more Img_3856wonderful knitterly friends for dinner and then headed back to Julie's to knit and chat.  Img_3869_2

Decisions, decisions

I throughly enjoyed the Bloomin' Feet swap last spring so I was thrilled when ISssbadge was asked if I would like to participate in a small swap among friends.   Aptly dubbed the Silly Sock Swap as the packages are due on April Fool's Day.  The matches were made and the questionnaires exchanged.  Now all the decisions about the perfect yarn and pattern.  I am pretty sure I have settled on the yarn, a lovely Lorna's Laces and I have narrowed down the Slr_0063rpatterns to a select few.  I am hoping to cast on this weekend.

Lady Eleanor

Img_0074I started a new project over our break.  I have been eying Lady Eleanor from Scarf Style for more than a year now and even purchased my yarn at the Ewe'll Love It superbowl sale last January. Having never tried entrelac,  I was a bit skeptical but I love it and watching the color changes evolve keeps it very interesting.
